David Alaba approaches Real Madrid. His contract with Bayern Munich expires next June so the Austrian has absolute freedom to negotiate and commit to any club for the next season. Among those most interested in Madrid which according to The Guardian and other media have confirmed has taken the lead and could close the operation in the coming weeks.

There are two aspects that are key to understanding Alaba’s decision.

The first is the offer prepared by the white team which is very generous economically but which in addition would be a long contract of at least four years. The second is that it is a dream for the defender to play for Madrid. Despite the fact that the board of directors has tried to sign him on other occasions they see the opportunity as ideal for next season especially considering the uncertain future of Sergio Ramos.

However, The Guardian also warns that nothing is closed and the footballer’s environment continues to listen to offers. Among the candidates is the Liverpool of Jurgen Klopp who is willing to make an effort to strengthen their defense. The final decision will have a significant influence not only on salary but also on transfer bonuses both for the player and for the agent Pini Zahavi.

What will not change is Alaba’s intention to leave Bayern after 12 years in Munich. He has decided that his stage is over although he wants to do so by ending his contract at a club in which he has won two Champions League. At 28 years old the defender who can play both as a left-back and central defender is unstoppably approaching the Bernabeu.
