India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been dropped from the remaining matches of the T20I series against Australia. Fast bowler Shardul Thakur has been included in the team for the rest of the series.

In a media briefing, the BCCI confirmed that the all-rounder was hit by Mitchell Starc’s head during the end of India’s innings in the first match of the T20I series in Canberra. Earlier, 31-year-old Jadeja is also suffering from a hamstring injury.

Jadeja, who scored 44 off 23 balls against Australia in the first T20I in Canberra, was hit on the left side of his forehead by Mitchell Starc’s ball. After which he could not come back on the field again. A clinical evaluation was done by the BCCI medical team during the innings break to confirm that it was continuously sensitized. Subsequently, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal replaced Jadeja as the concussion substitute and won the man of the match, dismissing 3 players for just 25 runs in 4 overs.

Jadeja will be under observation and will do additional scans if needed on Saturday as per the assessment. After the exit of Jadeja from the T20 series, the All India Senior Selection Committee has included Shardul Thakur in India’s T20I team.
