One of the most talked-about names in the IPL 2020 played in the UAE last year was Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Rahul Tewatia. Putting five sixes in one over, he forced Punjab Kings to lose the match won. Despite a great performance in the league, Rahul Tewatia was not sure that he would get a chance in Team India so soon. On Saturday, when he came to know that he has been selected in the T20 series against England, he could not believe it.
The BCCI announced the team for the five T20 matches series against England. Apart from Rahul Tewatia, Mumbai’s Surya Kumar Yadav has been given a chance. Rahul is currently playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Haryana.
Chahal had heard the good news by calling
Rahul told the Indian Express that he was informed by Indian spin bowler Yuzvendra Chahal about his selection in the team. He was half asleep when his phone rang. Chahal had an idea as soon as he heard Rahul’s voice that he did not know about the team selection. Chahal said, ‘Your team has been selected in India’. Upon hearing this, Rahul felt that Chahal was joking with him. He was not convinced until he read about this over the phone. After this, Mohit Sharma, playing with Rahul in Vijay Hazare Trophy, came into the room and congratulated him for the selection.
Rahul is excited to go to the dressing room of Team India
Talking about the selection, Rahul said, ‘Sharing the dressing room with the experienced players of Team India will be a great experience. I have heard that the experience of playing for Team India is different. Team management and selectors have shown confidence in me. Before me, Amit Mishra, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Jayant Yadav have played for Team India from Haryana. I knew that when I get a chance I will have to prove myself in it. The attention of people in IPL got me. I knew that if I consistently do well, I will definitely get a chance in Team India.
