A Spanish judge investigating the alleged tax evasion of Colombian singer Shakira has recommended that she be tried. The investigation concluded that the action would be taken as evidence that the pop star had not complied with its commitment to pay taxes in the country.
A 3-year Investigation Found Evidence
Justice Marco Juberias said in his order, ‘His 3-year investigation found that there was enough evidence to prosecute Shakira in this case. This decision can be appealed against.
‘We Paid Overdue Taxes’

The plaintiffs allege in December 2019 that the singer did not pay .4 16.4 million in taxes in Spain between 2012 and 2014. Despite her residence in Panama, she was living in Spain during this time. Shakira, 44, had testified in June 2019 that she had not committed any wrongdoing. Shakira’s public relations team said she had paid the amount after the tax office informed her of the arrears.
Penalties Can Be Imposed, Punishment Is Also Possible
It is said that Shakira could be fined if convicted of tax evasion. Also, she may have to spend some time in prison. However, judges may first commute the sentence to less than two years in prison. So nothing can be said clearly now.
