BBC One has announced a sixth and final season for hit crime drama British TV show Peaky Blinders

Steven Knight is the creator of the show and it is based on a youth gang of the same name.

The series premiered on 12 September 2013and telecast on BBC Two and then shifted to BBC One for the 5th season. Recently, the show has garnered a huge fan following in India and around the world with an IMDB rating of 8.8. The crime drama is available for streaming on Netflix. The periodic British drama is based in 1919 Birmingham. Peaky Blinders was a winner for the Best Drama Series category at the BAFTA TV Awards.

Steven Knight confirmed that the production of the show has begun in January 2021 and that the “story will continue in another form”. He also stated that “Peaky is back and with a bang, after the enforced production delay due to the COVID pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”

What Is The Show All About?

Set in 1919 post World War I Birmingham, England Peaky Blinders narrates the story of a gang of the same name led by Thomas ‘Tommy’ Shelby of the Shelby family who are infamous as bookmakers and gangsters. Tommy and his brothers have returned to Birmingham after serving in the British army during WWI and aim at controlling the city of Birmingham. The series further showcases Tommy Shelby’s bigger plans to expand his empire and refuse any sort of shortcomings upon it.

Season 5 of the series is based in 1929 during the aftermath of a huge financial crisis in England and Tommy Shelby MP has to take certain decisions not just for the future of his family but at the stake of the future of the entire nation.
