Former legendary wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel, who recently announced his retirement from all formats of cricket, has given a huge response to former captains like Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble. Parthiv Patel has described both these players as great captains.

Parthiv Patel said that he was lucky enough to make his international debut under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly. According to him, Ganguly and Kumble helped a lot to become a better person. He said that Sourav Ganguly gave many tremendous match-winners like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, and Virender Sehwag to the Indian team. Under his captaincy, India also got many great wins abroad. Speaking to PTI, Parthiv Patel said,

“The way Sourav Ganguly used to manage man, he was really capable as a leader. Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble were great leaders and they helped me become a tremendous human being.”

Parthiv Patel has announced his retirement

Let us tell you that Parthiv Patel has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. Parthiv, 35, who made his Test debut against England in 2002, played 25 Tests, 38 ODIs, and two T20 Internationals for India. Talking about domestic cricket, he played 194 first-class, 193 List A, and 204 T20.

For India, Parthiv scored 934 runs in 25 Tests with the help of 6 half-centuries, while in ODIs he scored 736 with four half-centuries and 36 in T20 Internationals. Parthiv Patel made his debut at just 17 years and 153 days and became the youngest wicketkeeper to do so.

As a wicketkeeper, Parthiv made 72 for India in Tests, 39 in ODIs, and one in T20 Internationals. In first-class cricket, his name was more than 500 victims, while in List A, he hunted more than 200. Apart from this, he made Gujarat the Ranji Trophy champion for the first time in 2016-17.
