Outlander Season 6

Outlander season 6 has finally been revealed in a series of first-look images, which reveal Claire and Jamie’s romance continued in colonial North Carolina. The Starz drama show, based on the bestselling historical fantasy books by Diana Gabaldon, has turned into a massive success since it first premiered in 2014. Outlander season 6 will last to star Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan as protagonists Claire and Jamie, resulting in an outfit that includes Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin.

Set primarily from the mid-20th century and mid-18th century Scotland, Outlander follows the often dangerous, sometimes romantic time travels of Claire Randall/Fraser. The series brought some ethnic comparisons to Game of Thrones in its early days, largely due to both featuring similar historical European stylings and being adapted from popular fantasy novel series. However, the show’s focus is much different, centering on the special connection between Claire and her 18th-century lover Jamie Fraser.

Outlander Season 6

First-look photos for Outlander season 6 have been released, giving a glimpse at what’s to come. The new season, which will accommodate Gabaldon’s sixth novel, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, sees Claire and Jamie continued to construct a life in North Carolina in the days leading up to the American Revolution. Per the report, season 6 is intended for an early 2022 release. “Season 6 explores what happens when there is disharmony and division among the people of the home you’ve created,” the official synopsis reads, “when you become an outsider, or an ‘outlander,’ so to speak, marginalized and rejected on your own home.”

Season 5 of Outlander, based on the novel The Fiery Cross, completed its run in May of 2020. That will leave a roughly two-year split between seasons 5 and 6 – a delay chiefly due to covid-19 production constraints safety considerations. Starz has already ordered a 12-episode season 7 based on An Echo from the Bone to follow up 6’s upcoming 8-episode run, making sure that the show will stick around for at least a couple more years. If it sticks to the book’s story, season 7 ought to draw Claire and Jamie to the play and action of the American Revolution.

If Starz intends to finish Gabaldon’s story, there are lots more Outlanders to look ahead to later on. The most recent book, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, was released in 2014, but a ninth book is scheduled to release in November of 2021, titled Go Tell The Bees Which I’m Gone. In theory, Outlander will continue to tell the story of Claire and Jamie for as long as Gabaldon continues releasing books.
