The Never Have I Ever season 2 trailer shows Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) dive head-first into the high school dating pond. Never Have I Ever, that’s loosely according to founder Mindy Kaling’s childhood, is a coming-of-age series based around Devi, a first-generation Indian American high school student. The series follows Devi as she develops a developing fascination with boys and complicated friendships while balancing her over-achieving attitude toward academics. Her tense relationship with her mother, Nalini (Poorna Jagannathan), is also central to the narrative, as it’s only gotten worse because of the death of her father (Sendhil Ramamurthy).
The Never Have I Ever season 1 ended with a cliffhanger involving Devi’s love life, which will be fundamental to the next season. Devi is captured in the middle of two possible boyfriends, one being her longtime crush Paxton (Darren Barnet) and the other her one-time nemesis Ben (Jarren Lewison). Her best friends Eleanor (Ramona Young) and Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) are by her side every step along the way to present their perspectives and to deliver a comedic element to the story.
Netflix released the full-scale trailer for season two, which will be set to premiere on July 15. The trailer starts using Devi weighing the pros and cons of relationship Ben or Paxton, as she grapples with her”last chance for an American high school boyfriend.” She ends up not picking and determining to have 2 boyfriends, which will no doubt lead to some messy encounters. But she sees that the new Indian-American woman at school, played with Megan Suri, as a threat to her position in the relationship game.

Devi’s not the only one coming to terms with her romantic life – Fabiola appears to investigate the relationship world after coming out last season. And her mom has rather a rough time dealing with the idea of Devi kissing boys, which isn’t a surprise considering her overprotective parenting style. However, Devi’s good-girl mindset seems to give way to her new lifestyle. She proudly proclaims, “My mother doesn’t tell me how to live my own life. Meghan thee Stallion will” to prove she’s not afraid to be somewhat rebellious nowadays. Check out the full trailer for under.
The trailer for Never Have I Ever season 2 also gives a glance at newcomer Dr. Chris Jackson, performed with Frequent. However, a possible cameo from Kaling remains up in the air, which many fans are calling for considering her personal connection with the plot. While Never Have I Ever season 1 introduced viewers to Devi’s quirky demeanor and complicated family life, season 2 appears that it will be about expansion and Devi shattering the expectations of that she is expected to be. And now that audiences created a connection with her in season 1, Devi’s impending growth during the new season of Never Have I Ever will undoubtedly be even more heartfelt to watch.
