Festival season is back in full swing. After being canceled for the past two years, large-scale music festivals, including Coachella, Primavera Sound, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, are returning as mask requirements have eased and coronavirus vaccinations have increased.

Unlike last year’s events, most festival organizers no longer require proof of vaccination or a negative test for COVID-19 for entry. The CDC guidelines for major events and gatherings note: “The likelihood of contracting COVID-19 during outdoor events is less, even without the use of masks,” and wearing a face mask outdoors is usually not required.

How to get a refund if a festival is canceled because of COVID-19

If a music festival is canceled, organizers and online ticket brokers offer refund guarantees for postponed or rescheduled concerts. StubHub gives ticket holders a 120 percent credit (which expires 365 days after each credit is issued) on the amount paid for canceled concerts, and tickets can be applied to rescheduled dates or re-sold for free. Vividseats offers a 110 percent credit or full cash refund, and Ticketmaster and SeatGeek refund the full price of canceled and rescheduled events or refund tickets for rescheduled dates.
