During the NXT broadcasts through the USA Network, two teams made it to the second round of the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic: MSK and Grizzled Young Veterans.
At the show’s opening, MSK Wes Lee and Nash Carter defeated Killian Dain and Drake Maverick. Although Maverick tried to maintain dominance of the fight, Lee and Carter worked together and after a struggle with Killian, Wes connected his Neckbreaker so that Carter performed his iron on the rivals and thus get the victory.
In the semi-finals, the winning duo will face the winner of the fight between Lucha House Party Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado vs. Legado del Fantasma (Joaquín Wilde and Raúl Mendoza) that will be defined next Wednesday.
On the other hand, Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) beat Leon Ruff and Kushida. In the final minutes of the match, Kushida attempted a joint lock from the third rope. Ruff intercepted Zack with a clothesline but a miss from the rope made Grizzled Young Veterans co-ordinate and end the fight with a team maneuver.
Gibson and Drake will face in the semifinals the winning team of the fight between Undisputed Era (Adam Cole & Roderick Strong) vs Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher.
It should be noted that the last matches of the second round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2021 will take place next Wednesday on NXT.
