On September 18, 2020, the PWInsider portal had announced that former WWE Divas and women’s champion Melina would return to WWE after nine years. However, the fighter herself denied her return but did not rule out the possibility of working with the company in the future.

Speaking to WrestleTalk, Melina revealed details of what really happened with WWE, I was talking about a comeback, to see if it was possible and all that. The whole world gave it so much importance. I was in talks with WWE but I never signed with them, no nothing happens. They just asked me if I would consider going back and I said yes. Eventually, I found out that my knee was hurt and I couldn’t fight. Would they have given me a contract if my knee wasn’t hurt? Who knows, I don’t know if we’ll ever know. That’s what wrestling is like, nothing is a guarantee.

Rumors Of His Participation In Nxt

Freelancer Jonny Fairplay, a close friend of Robert Stone, revealed that the NXT rep had plans to take Melina to the yellow brand. I spoke to Robert two weeks ago and he said he had no idea what to do, Fairplay clarified. She was supposed to represent Melina on NXT, but she had to have surgery or something.

Melina made her wrestling debut in 2002 after training at Jesse Hernandez’s school in California. She signed a development contract with WWE in 2004 and made her debut on the main roster a year later, initially as a manager before becoming a full-time individual competitor in 2006.

She was fired from WWE in August 2011 and has since taken a hiatus from wrestling and returned to accept independent appearances in 2015 and later joined NWA. Melina returned to WWE in 2019 when she made a guest appearance at Raw Reunion. Recently, in early 2021 Melina had a new appearance in a segment with Lucha House Party.
