Based on Bobby Crosby’s graphic novel of the same name, the movie Marry Me is all set to hit the screens in the summer of 2021. This upcoming American romantic comedy stars Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson. We’ll also be seeing the Latin singer Maluma making his feature film debut here.
Marry Me is a flick about two strangers who get hitched first and then get to know each other. It’s a modern love story about a celebrity, marriage, and social media.
The script has been written by John Rogers, Tami Sagher, and Harper Dill. Kat Coiro is the director of the movie. It has been produced by Lopez along with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, and John Rogers.
When will it release?
The production of the movie ended long back in November 2019. Originally the movie was all set to get released around Valentine’s Day. The decided date was 12th February, 2021. But this romantic comedy got a temporary cold foot.
Universal has announced that the release will be postponed for three months. The movie will now hit the theatres on 14th May 2021.
What is the plot?
The movie follows the story of Latin pop star Kat Valdez played by Jennifer Lopez. She with her playboy partner Bastian (played by Maluma) are the sexiest celebrity powerhouse couple in the world. Their upcoming marriage is a sizzling topic for the paparazzi while their joint hit album ‘Marry Me’ is climbing the charts.
Bastian shocks Kat by his infidelity which she learns moments before walking down the aisle. Their nuptials were being streamed live. Kat prompted to play a publicity stunt by marrying a stranger from the audience, Charlie Gilbert. Charlie is a divorced high school maths teacher.
The official synopsis reads:
“What begins as an impulsive reaction evolves into an unexpected romance. But as forces conspire to separate them, the universal question arises: Can two people from such different worlds bridge the gulf between them and build a place where they both belong?”
The movie will also be having original tracks from Lopez and Maluma.
