There have been several shows lucky enough to be revived by Netflix in recent years, but it looks like NBC’s Manifest could be one of the strings given new life after cancellation. The lost airplane play surfaced on Netflix a week and NBC’s decision to cancel the series after three seasons followed shortly after. Despite the fact that the third season ended on a cliffhanger that may never get answered, Manifest quickly climbed to the peak of the Netflix graphs.
The supernatural drama show premiered in 2018, focusing on the passengers of Flight 828 who died after being presumed dead for more than five decades. However, regardless of the overwhelming shock for their grieving families and friends, it’s as if no time passed at all for those on the flight from Jamaica to New York City. Much stranger, the passengers start to experience voices and visions of events which have yet to happen. Creator Jeff Rake offered the show to NBC with six seasons mapped out, leaving an unfortunate mess of unanswered queries using its third-period cancellation. Still, the television producer has maintained hope that the show will probably get picked up by another platform.
Hope to get Manifest may exist in the kind of Netflix as attempts are being made to move the show to the streaming platform. The drama pulled impressive numbers in its first week on Netflix, debuting at the #3 spot and immediately keeping up a first location standing. According to reports, conversations are happening between Warner Bros… TV, and Netflix in regard to the viability and financials of this series.
The version of the Netflix resurrection is rare, but it has been proven to work sometimes, for example with Fox’s Lucifer, which became a hit on Netflix as an original series. Notably, Lucifer is also Made by WBTV. Other fan-favorites have also return using Netflix as the platform of choice to accomplish this, including Arrested Development, Fuller House, and Gilmore Girls. For now, if Netflix is waiting for signs of public demand, the Twitter hashtag, #savemanifest, is a pretty common indicator that viewers want to know what happened on Flight 828.
While there are a glimmer of hope for Manifest, it is too soon to say whether any other recently cancelled NBC favorites such as Debris and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist have any possibility of seeing their tales through. Until Netflix decides to offer their response about a Manifest revival, fans can use the time to mull over the crazy amounts of concepts and clues that have allegedly set the way for a finish that might never get to be viewed.
