Thanks to all of its blockbuster shows, it has been a great year for Marvel Studios, but Loki is an all-time favorite.

To date, no streaming project has had the same impact on the MCU as Loki, the standalone sci-fi drama that created a multiverse and set the stage for unending chaos.

A time-treading foe from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has also been introduced. Or at least, it is a memorable variation of Kang the Conqueror.

The fans are already desperate for answers about how our God of Mischief will get out of his latest predicament after a seemingly last-minute twist saw him thrown into a parallel dimension.

There’s a good chance Kate Herron won’t be providing these upcoming episodes, as the filmmaker is leaving Marvel after creating six episodes for Loki’s first season.

Loki Season 2 Release Date

In the post-credits scene for Loki in the series finale, Marvel confirmed Loki would return for a second season, but the news will not have come as a total surprise to those keeping up with headlines.

According to Deadline, Loki season two is planned for 2021, with author Michael Waldron returning to write the second chapter.

Production Weekly reports that Loki season two could kick off filming in January 2022, although there’s no confirmed launch date just yet.

During Loki’s first season, approximately six months were spent shooting (excluding the pandemic break), followed by another half-year postproduction.

It’s possible Loki season two will be released in early 2023, possibly taking over WandaVision’s January time slot, if Loki follows this cycle for its second season.

Loki Season 2 Cast

The season two Loki cast is still unnamed, but Tom Hiddleston will likely play this year’s title role.

We might also see more of his mischievous Loki variants in the future, including Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, with whom he has been most prominent.

As for the Classic Loki, it would appear unlikely to survive his battle with Alioth – but then again, the Lokis are renowned for being sneaky.

In the final scene, Loki appeared to have been forgotten by Agent Mobius and Hunter B-15, the TVA’s top agents, who now appear to be brainwashed variants.

Loki season 2 Plot

Fans were delighted when Loki episode six introduced Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror as a real-life comic book character – sort of.

He Who Remains appears to be a more reasonable variant of the comic book villain, not the ruthless, maniacal version from the comic books.

Although He Who Remains and Kang are separate entities in the source materials, the characters have been combined in the MCU adaptation for the sake of streamlined storytelling.

As an evil puppet master of the TVA, Kang certainly has his evil side, but as he strives to prevent a cataclysmic multiverse war, there is a virtuous side to him.

Towards the end of the movie, as Sylvie murders him, he utters “see you soon.” and is transported into the Sacred Timeline, one of which must contain an even more dangerous version of himself.
