During the transmission of the NXT through the USA Network, the first edition of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Women’s tournament began. In the opening fight, Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro defeated Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez.
Before the fight,
William Regal and Beth Phoenix gave a presentation of the tournament reviewing the biggest names of women who have participated in the black and gold brand. The eight competing pairs were introduced to the public and then the first match of the tournament began.
In the final minutes of the fight, Catanzaro applied a Hurracarrana on Martinez and a double reveal was performed. Carter overpowered Storm with several blows and Io Shirai appeared and took Mercedes out of the fight. Meanwhile, Kacy took height and fell on Toni to get the victory for her team.

the duo will face whoever emerges victorious from the fight between Aliyah & Jessi Kamea against Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzales.
