The Premier League is reaching its conclusion and there is still a lot to play for at both ends of the table. With the title race still very much on between Liverpool and Manchester City as well as the fact that nobody seems to want to finish in the top four. However, at the bottom end of the table, there are worries for one of the original Premier League sides.

Everton, the blue side of Liverpool, could be about to face something they have only experienced twice in their 144-year history; they are on the brink of relegation. It would be disastrous for a club like Everton to face relegation to the Championship, but one fan and players may have to deal with it on the 22nd of May.

What has happened?

A terrible season for The Toffees could be made a whole lot worse if they do get relegated but it has been poor performance after poor performance. The club has only won 8 games and they have come sporadically as they have failed to record back-to-back wins all seasons.

First was Rafa Benitez who failed in his bid to win over fans, previously being Liverpool manager, and failed in keeping his job as he took Everton down to 15th in the table. He only last six and a half months at Goodison Park. Then the arrival of Frank Lampard, Super Frank in his playing days but it has been anything less than super in his reign.

Wins against Leeds United, Newcastle United, and Manchester United (All the Uniteds it seems) have brought some joy but 3 wins from 11 games for Lampard and Everton is far from pleasing.

More than the manager and the players, a lot of the blame has been aimed at the owner Farhad Moshiri. The fans feel he should leave the club after many failed signings and allowing the club to fall close to relegation. Moshiri might want to start looking at trading forex platforms if his time is coming to a close at Everton!

Is Everton in real danger?

Yes, they are. Burnley is the closest team in the drop zone, and they are really putting the pressure on Everton who occupies 17th place. Burnley managed to beat Everton 3-2 in the league recently and in their last game got a huge three points against Southampton whereas Everton could only pick up a point against Leicester City.

Just one point separates the two sides but Everton they do have a saving grace; they have a game in hand.

However, their form may not feel like the game against Watford (19th place) could dictate an advantage. Luckily for Everton, they are in woeful form as well. But it may not come down to that one game as Everton face both Liverpool and Chelsea in their next two fixtures whereas Burnley plays Wolves and Watford.

It could be a season where Liverpool wins four trophies and Everton gets relegated to the Championship. There would be such a divide in the city of Liverpool if that were to happen.
