The cast and crew behind Anne Having an E reportedly did whatever they could to keep the popular series heading for as long as you can. And they weren’t the only ones.
In 2020, lovers of the series put together impressive petitions, hashtag campaigns, and recruited some huge names in the entertainment world in an attempt to reason with those who said it was time to say goodbye to Anne With an E. But alas, all good things have to come to an end some time or another.
Is Anne With An E Season 4 Happening?
For those who have yet to hear the unfortunate thing, the series had been canceled in 2019, so Anne With an E season 4 is a definite no-go on Netflix. After fans petitioned mega challenging for its recurrence and garnered over 700,000 signatures, there was a glimmer of hope for a mere moment. As it happens, regrettably, the popular series could have gone under for other, undisclosed reasons.
Reportedly, the association between the show creators and Netflix proved to be anything but smooth sailing. Still, what likely stung most for fans was knowing that those who set the Netflix Original jointly claimed to love the series from start to finish, even announcing”not seeing” its departure from the streaming service as a comprehensive end to Anne Having an E’s future.
Those behind Anne Having an E released the following joint statement regarding the series cancellation after only 3 seasons:
We have been thrilled to bring the quintessentially Canadian narrative of Anne with an E to viewers around the world. We are grateful to producers Moira Walley-Beckett and Miranda de Pencier and to the gifted cast and crew for their unbelievable job in sharing Anne’s story with a brand new generation. We expect fans of the series to love this last year as much as we can, and that it attracts a pleasing conclusion to Anne’s journey.
Irrespective of why Anne Using an E was finally revived, it’s clear that CBC and Netflix desired the coming-of-age series to finish on a good note, which it definitely did. And rightfully so, its cancellation remains bittersweet for its lovers.
Of course, fans are still holding out hope that Anne Having an E-season 4 sometimes happens if another network saves it. For now, nothing has been verified, therefore we shouldn’t expect the fan-favorite series to return in 2021.
