The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) clarified in a recently released statement that this season, for the first time in 87 years, the Ranji Trophy tournament will not be held. That is, after the end of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, BCCI will organize the Vijay Hazare ODI tournament in February and March and then play the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) in April.
The board has openly expressed its intention to organize the IPL in India. The 14th IPL season could be held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, along with Mumbai’s Wankhede, Brabourne, DY Patil, and Reliance Cricket Stadium, as reported in the Times of India. Also, some IPL matches can also be held at the new Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
A source attached to the board said, “India should not host the IPL and then we will say that we are ready to host the T20 World Cup, that would be wrong.” When this epidemic was at its peak, the BCCI organized a spectacular IPL tournament under the BioSecure bubble. There is no reason why we cannot create the same safe environment at home. ”
According to the report, IPL 2021 will start in the second week of April ie from 11 to 14 April, and will run till the first week of June. During this time, the BCCI will also conduct an auction to add a new team to the tournament.
