Chairman of Indian Premier League, Brijesh Patel said that formal approval has been given by the central government to hold this premier league (IPL 2020) in UAE. The first time in the history of IPL it will be organized out of India.

Yesterday, Brijesh Patel chairman of IPL revealed that BCCI has received the formal confirmation on organizing IPL in UAE. Since the COVID-19 pandemic is badly affecting worldwide, BCCI found UAE the safest one to hold IPL this year.
In addition, the IPL chairman also mentioned that BCCI “in all likelihood, will announce the tournament’s new title sponsors by August 18”. Interested companies will get a seven-day window for the interested one to submit their bid.

Due to rising coronavirus cases in India, the government had given an “in principle go-ahead” to BCCI to shift the “marquee League (IPL)” to UAE last week.
Written approval from ministries!!
PTI questioned Patel if they got written approvals for the same!! On this Patel said: “Yes, we have received all the written approvals from both the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)”.
It’s a rule of the government as well as organizations that if an Indian sports body shifts a domestic tournament overseas for an edition due to some cause, it is mandatory to get clearance from Home, External and Sports ministries respectively.
On these conditions of anonymity, a veteran BCCI official told PTI the once they had the verbal okay from the government for this event they have intimated the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and now they have written documents as well, therefore they intimated franchises that everything is in order.
Franchises to go under test for COVID-19:
Mostly all of those flying for UAE after August 20 will be allowed after two mandatory tests RT-PCR (COVID-19) which will be conducted within 24 hours from their departure base.
CSK players and full staff, those who are living on 22nd August to UAE will have a small camp at the Chepauk on the “insistence of skipper” MS Dhoni.
Title Sponsors for this IPl- Patanjali ?
BCCI also facing problems on the sponsorship this year as Chinese Vivo company has been taken off due to massive public outrage over the “Sino-India border” stand-off.
BCCI told that was a Rs 440 crore deal and now BCCI looks for potential sponsors, Patanjali of Baba Ramdev has shown interest in becoming the new title sponsor for IPL.
Patel said by 18th August they will finalize the title sponsor, whether it will be an Indian company or overseas, whoever bids the most will get the rights.
