Based on the comic book of the same name by Charles Forsman, the first season of I Am Not Okay With This premiered on Netflix in February of this year.
The show stars Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, and Sofia Bryant. Lillis plays Sydney Novak, a teenage girl who is struggling with anger problems in the aftermath of her father’s suside a year prior.
Dealing with a large school, she loved ones, and her sexuality, Sydney’s world is turned upside down once she begins developing odd telekinetic powers.
I Am Not Okay With This Cast
Viewers might recognize the celebrity from her role as Young Camille on Sharp Objects and out of her portrayal of Beverly Marsh in It and It: Chapter Two. Lillis is great in both, and should you prefer I’m Not Okay With This, then I would highly recommend her other job.
Wyatt Oleff plays Stan Barber, Sydney’s neighbor that helps her to find out more about her budding supernatural skills. Oleff starred alongside Lillis in It and It: Chapter 2 as Stanley Uris. Marvel fans might also recognize him from his job as Young Peter Quill at Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel.
Sofia Bryant plays Dina, Sydney’s best buddy. Unbeknownst to Dina, Sydney has a crush on her, complicating Dina’s relationship with her boyfriend, Brad (Richard Ellis).
If you would like to know whether or not I Am Not Nice With This will be receiving a second season, then you have come to the ideal location.
Was I Am Not Okay With This Cancelled?
Despite receiving positive reviews from fans and critics alike, I Am Not Okay With This has been canceled after just 1 season.
The production for its second season was already underway when Netflix chose not to proceed forward with the series due to complications surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
Here is exactly what Netflix advised Deadline about their choice to cancel I’m Not Okay With This:
We have made the Challenging decision not to proceed forward with the second phases of The Society and I Am Not Nice With This. We are disappointed to have to make these choices due to circumstances made by COVID, and we’re thankful to those founders, including Jonathan Entwistle, Christy Hall, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry in 21 Laps Entertainment for I Am Not Okay With This; Chris Keyser, Marc Webb and Pavlina Hatoupis for The Society; and all the authors, casts and crews that worked tirelessly to make these shows for our associates around the world.
The pandemic has disrupted film and television production all over the world, so while it is unfortunate that the show has been cancelled, it’s not that much of a surprise.
Should you miss the show, then considering checking out the source material! It is possible to buy the comic book by Forsman on Amazon.
