Classic witchy – comedy movie Hocus Pocus (directed by Kenny Ortega) is all set to release sequel on Disney+ after 30 years and after giving everybody major Halloween vibes in 1993. There are sequel speculations going on since 2018 but now classic cult comedy is finally happening in full swing and with a new director, Adam Shankman and a new writer Jen D’Angelo.
The new director of the Sequel also confirmed the news of the film via his Twitter account:
However, the film will not see a theatrical release but will be available only on OTT platform Disney+ due to the current Corona Virus crisis.
Hocus Pocus 2 Cast
Sources have revealed that the iconic trio of the 1993 flick Bete Midler as Winifred “Winnie” Sanderson along with co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson and Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson (Sanderson sisters) will reprise their roles as the resurrected witches. There is no news of any new character additions for the sequel.
Hocus Pocus 2 Plot Updates
The makers of the movie have not disclosed any plot details as of yet, but all we know that the sequel is possibly a continuation of the plot presented 30 years ago.
The story is based in Salem, Massachusetts in 1963. Three witch sisters namely Winifred, Sarah and Kathy abduct a girl named Kelly and attempt to absorb her youth into them. In that process Emily dies and the witches are confronted by their brother who is turned into a black cat by the witches and cursed with immortality. The witches are arrested by the locals and condemned to death and before being executed Winnie casts a spell allowing their resurrection after 300 years on All Hallows Eve when any virgin lights the Black Flame Candle. Later on, in the 20th Century, a young boy named Max inadvertently lights the Black Flame Candle on Halloween resurrecting the three witches due to his virginity. The witches return to the city wreak havoc. The movie ended with an indication that the witches are could return again as Winnie’s spell book was still alive.
When will Hocus Pocus 2 release?
As of now there is no official announcement by Disney+ regarding the release date of the sequel.
