‘Dexter’ is an American television series listed under the genre of crime, drama and mystery. It premiered on Show Time on October 1, 2006. The series is developed by James Manos Jr. The first season of ‘Dexter’ can be traced to the novel ‘Darkly Dreaming Dexter’ (2004). However, the ensuing episodes evolved unconventionally.

Plot Summary
The story converges on Dexter (Michael C. Hall), a forensic technician, who specialises in blood stain pattern analysis. He works for the fictional Miami Metro Police Department. Conversely, he leads a covert parallel life as a serial killer. He hunts down the murderers who’ve escaped the hands of justice!
He is orphaned at the age of three, when his mother was murdered in cold blood by drug dealers. Later on, he is adopted by a Miami Police officer Harry Morgan (James Remar). Due to Dexter’s antecedent sociopathic tendencies, Harry guides Dexter to channel his bloodlust into vigilantism.
To aid cover to his profuse homicides, he gets recruited as a forensic analyst. Dexter is very cautious and discreet. He wears gloves, uses plastic-wrapped ‘kill rooms’, sections the corpses and disposes them off in Atlantic Ocean.
The show received many awards. Two Golden Globes by Michael C. Hall and John Lithgow for their roles as Dexter and Arthur. The series mostly gained positive reviews throughout. Although, with the advancing seasons, the reception normed out!
All about Dexter – season 9
In April, 2013 – Show Time declared that season eight would be the finale of ‘Dexter’. Its premiere being the most watched ‘Dexter’ episode.
Nonetheless, in October, 2020, there came a heart balm that ‘Dexter’ would return as a 10-episode series with Michael C. Hall as the show runner. Production is scheduled begin at the end of 2020. This foretells us that the premiere date is going to be somewhere between mid to late 2021.
