Desus & Mero is an American television late-night talk show on premium cable and streaming service Showtime. Comedians Desus Nice (Daniel Baker) and The Kid Mero (Joel Martinez) host the show.
The show made its debut on 21st February 2019. The show is produced by Jax Media. Alongside Lilly Burns, Tony Hernandez and Victor Lopez, the duo executive produces.
Desus & Mero is Showtime’s first-ever-late night talk show. After hosting a daily incarnation on Viceland for two years, Nice & Mero brought the series on Showtime in 2018. Before that, the duo hosted a web series for Complex TV.
They were also featured on The Guy Code which ran on ViacomCBS brand MTV. The duos are long-time friends and proud Bronx natives who gained fame through their podcast “The Bodega Boys.”
Renewal of the show
The renewal announcement was made on 16th September, 2020. Showtime entertainment President Gary Levine said,
“All of us at Showtime are so proud to have Desus & Mero as our signature late night series. They are our very own ‘Bronx Bombers’ who knock it out of the park every episode, with their singular blend of hilarity, authenticity and relevancy”
The news came when the pair were producing the second season from their home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The show continued to air its second season on Thursday and Sunday nights. The season was wrapped up in October.
In each episode, the co-hosts discuss the day’s hot topics and chat with the guests. The guests on their show include people like Senator Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Missy Elliott, Dr. Anthony Fauci, David Letterman, The Beastie Boys, Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union.
Season three will be premiering in 2021. However, there are many questions which pops up in our mind regarding the upcoming season. The audience are curious to know if the show will be filmed in the studio again or not. They are also curious to know if any past guests like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be returning.
Prior to the debut of the show in February last year, the pair teased that they were going to disrupt the late-night space with some cultural paradigm-shifting. After two seasons, we can say that they are on their way of fulfilling their promise
