If you are a sucker for hopeless romance, you should totally jump in excitement!. Writer Ava DuVernay’s super hit romance series Cherish the day will be back for a season 2 on the Oprah Winfrey Network. The anthology-style show has received huge popularity and a considerable number of ratings. It’s popularity was prominent especially in among African American households. Since, the release of its 8 episodes on February 11, 2020, fans have been desperately waiting for another season.

President of OWN Tina Perry quoted that “Ava and her immensely talented team of creators are telling dynamic and moving love stories depicting the many facets of marriage and relationships that resonate deeply with our audience,”.

Cast And Crew

Cherish the day is produced by ARRAY Filmworks and Harpo Films in association with Warner Bros. Television. Also, Ava DuVernay, Paul Garnes, Tanya Hamilton and Oprah Winfrey are executive producers for the same.

The show features Xosha Roquemore as Gently James, Alano Miller as Evan Fisher and Cicely Tyson as Miss Luma Lee Langston as the main cast. Whereas, Michael Beach as Ben, Anne-Marie Johnson as Marilyn and Kellee Stewart as Ellene play reccuring characters. 

Plot

The show narrates the story of a black couple who have different natures and come from different walks of life. Each episode narrated the story of Gently James and Evan Fisher one free-spirited and one traditional. Over a period of five years, the couple faces ups and downs and even financial issues but still make it through as they find support in the love for one another.

Season 2 of the show will feature the story of a brand new couple with different challenges in their life. A completely different story from the couple in the first season.

Release Date

Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) renewed the show for a second season on 26th October, 2020. The filming for the same is set to begin in early or mid-2021. Therefore, we can predict that the show will return with season 2 only by mid or end of 2021.
