The moment that Cesaro would have accepted his new contract with the company was reportedly after the Gauntlet Match held on WWE SmackDown several weeks ago, where the winner of the match would challenge Roman Reigns at the 2021 Royal Rumble event.
Dave Meltzer reports that Cesaro was scheduled to get the big push that Shinsuke Nakamura received in the match, adding that the idea to babyface he came from Daniel Bryan, who further added that Cesaro should take Nakamura’s place in the match.
