After a very successful 9 seasons and an amazing Christmas special which was released on 25 December, 2020, the very loved BBC’s British soap opera Call The Midwife is all set to release a full fledged season 10. This series is based in the 1950’s and shows cases of the life of midwives in the East End of London. Heidi Thomas adapted the show from the memoirs of nurse Jennifer Worth. Jennifer worked with the Community of St. John the Divine which is a religious order founded as a nursing home. The same is depicted in the show as well.

Call The Midwife has successfully garnered a large fan base. The critics have also equally loved the show. The series has an impressive rating of 8.4/10 on the IMDB’s website. The first episode of the show aired on 15 January, 2012 on BBC One. Since then it has gathered large amounts of viewership and love from the audience.

Call The Midwife season 10: Plot

As mentioned earlier, the series is based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth who was a nurse and a midwife at Poplar East End of London in the 1950’s.

The story depicts the lives of midwives in poverty stricken Poplar who belong to a nursing home founded by a religious order. Jenny Lee is a newly qualified nurse at the home and is learning to cope with everyday issues. The nursing home takes care of at least 50 – 100 childbirths per month along with post natal care of mothers. The show also depicts the time in 1957 when post-war immigration and baby boom took place.

In the 2020 Christmas special episode, the midwives celebrate Christmas in 1965 at the Nursing home. The episode became the most-watched program in England during Christmas.

Call The Midwife season 10: Release date

The pandemic has affected the release of many shows. Call The Midwife was not far behind. The release for the new season was delayed way back. Luckily, fans got to view a Christmas special of the show. However, the BBC has mentioned that more episodes are all set to come in 2021. The shooting for the same is going on.
