After being announced as the first series of Shonda Rimes, Bridgerton was released by Netflix. Thus, the series was already highly anticipated, both by fans of Julia Quinn’s books and by subscribers to the service. After all, Shonda is one of the greatest series creators of all time, having on her resume, Grey’s Anatomy.

Well, on Friday, December 25th, the first season that will define the trajectory of Daphne Bridgerton arrived at the service. As usual, all episodes were released at once, filling viewers with emotion. Also, it created high expectations about its future.

Many of the details of Bridgerton ‘s second season remain in the dark, after all, the series has just been released in the catalog. However, in this article, we have gathered the main details about the future of the series. With that, here you will be on top of the renewal, scheduled premiere date, cast and spoilers of the 2nd season.

Bridgerton is already renewed for season 2

At first, it is worth remembering that Bridgerton’s future is already guaranteed. Although Netflix has not made any official announcements, portals like ProductionWeekly note that Bridgerton has been renewed for a second season since February 2020.

However, it’s not surprising that Netflix initially made a mystery. The reason is that there were few series that received an early renewal by the service. Streaming generally waits between two to three months to receive confirmation of renewal and with Bridgerton, it will be no different.

Filming for new Bridgerton episodes is confirmed

Another point that reinforces the theory that Bridgerton already has a second season confirmed is the recording schedules. The new episodes would originally be filmed in July 2020. However, the pandemic was decisive for the recording to be postponed.

Thus, the recordings were rescheduled for March 2021. So far, only Uxbridge, a city located next to Greater London is scheduled as the location for the filming. But, other locations are expected to be added in the coming months. Most likely, producers will return to Bath, a city in the UK, where the first season was also recorded.

Premiere for the second season

Taking into account that Netflix may have already given the endorsement for Bridgerton recordings, the pandemic may still affect the continuity of the series. As we could see in the previous topic, the recordings of the second season will be eight months behind schedule.

Certainly, this delay will directly affect the premiere of the new episodes. If before, we could expect Netflix to launch the new season in December 2021, with the delays, we will be able to see the arrival of the series only in the middle of 2022. A more assertive forecast would be between, June and July.

Like The Crown, for example, Bridgerton has a long recording schedule. The first season started shooting in July 2019 and lasted until February 2020. Certainly, with the 2nd season of Bridgerton, it will be no different.

Cast: who returns for Bridgerton season 2?

Bridgerton’s cast is huge and has great diversity. This has been a major milestone in Shonda Rimes’ productions. Given the facts of the end of the season and the books to come, we are likely to see Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown again. As in the first year, the award-winning actress does not appear in the production. However, she is responsible for narrating the facts.

About the Bridgerton family, we will have Pheobe Dynevor (Daphne), Ruth Gemmell (Violet), Jonathan Bailey (Anthony), Luke Newton (Colin), Claudia Jessie (Eloise) and Luke Thompson (Benedict). Children Florence Hunt (Hyacinth) and Will Tilston (Gregory) also return.

Other names that may be present in the new season are Kathryn Dysdale, Jessica Madsen, Lorraine Ashbourne, Julian Ovenden, Martins Imhangbe. James Fleet, Pippa Haywood, Freddie Stroma, Jamie Beamish, Ruby Barker, Bessie Carter, Nicola Coughlan and Golda Rosheuvel. In turn, Regé-Jean Page must reprise his role as Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings.

On the other hand, it is not clear whether Sabrina Bartlett will reprise her role. Soon, it is likely that other names will be added to Bridgerton’s vast cast.
