Betaal is an Indian horror web series which is created by Patrick Graham and produced by Shahrukh Khan’s production house Red Chilies Entertainment. The show is set in modern times where Army officers fight Zombies alive since the British era.
The show however did not receive much of an audience and critic appreciation. They were of the opinion that the show lacked scary moments and a suspense-filled plot. It received a meager 5.3/10 on the IMDB’s website and just a 14% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The show did not seem to having a great impact on the audience, but it did garner a few fans of the acting.
The cast members for season 2 of the show have not been announced yet.
Following are the cast members of the show:
- Vineet Kumar Singh as Vikram Sirohi
- Aahana Kumra as DC ‘Ahlu’ Ahluwalia
- Suchitra Pillai as Commandant Tyagi
- Jatin Goswami as Assad Akbar
- Jitendra Joshi as Ajay Mudhalvan
- Siddharth Menon as Nadir Haq
- Manjiri Pupala as Puniya
- Swapnil Kotriwar as Kanji
- Meenal Kapoor as Shakuntala Mudhalvan
The plot revolves around Indian army officers of the Counter-Insurgency Police Department who are geared in a remote village in India to fight Betaal- a zombie and his army of redcoat Zombies. The residents of the village are afraid of the Betaal Mountain since the East India Company’s era.
At the ending of the final episode, we witnessed Mumbai under attack by multiple hostilities and 18th-century warships emerging from nowhere indicating that the curse of Betaal has only just begun.
There are no official release date announced by Netflix as of yet. The show was first released on Netflix on 24th May 2020 and Netflix time takes a couple of months to announce a renewal. Also, keeping in mind the pandemic, season 2 might be delayed for some time.
Also, giving the fact that the show was not received well by the audience and the critics, the chances of its return for a second season look thin.
