
Former national champion boxer Duryodhan Negi has been found to be Covid-19 positive and has been hospitalized as a precaution despite not showing any symptoms. The Sports Authority of India (Sai) gave this information on Sunday. This welterweight (69 kg) class boxer was returning for a national training camp in Patiala after the break of Diwali. Sai said in the statement, ‘He is not showing any symptoms right now and has been admitted to Columbia Asia Hospital as a precautionary step. He went on leave for Deepawali and was kept in seclusion on his return. According to Sai’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), he was tested on the sixth day after returning to the camp. Negi, a 34-year veteran boxer, has represented India in various international competitions including the World Championship held last year.
