I have an req to write a file from my local machine to any on the machines on the local network.Is this possible in java without using SocketConnection.

If i use URL Objects,do i have to have a server listener on the remote machine?

If you have the necessary access permissions on the systems you are writing to then there are no problems writing files using streams. On a LAN consisting of mainly Windows machines you can open a file on any other PC using the standard URN of "\pcName\shareName\dir\..\fileName".
