Uninstalling / Upgrading Apache in Solaris 8

Hi,

I am using Apache 1.3.24 with Tomcat 4.0.3 in Solaris 8. I would like to upgrade my Apache to 2.0.39. However, I have no clue as to how I can remove my current web server.



I built my apache 1.3.24 from source previously. Is it safe to just stop apache and remove its folder and contents? Please advise me on the uninstallation.
