We are using a Canvas to layout our own components. (Essentially it is a very simplified kAWT design.) On the Palm , however, we want to take advantage of the char recognition interface for text entry without resorting to using a Screen layout. As we are displaying a Canvas, we don't get keyPress events when we attempt to draw characters with the stylus. Presumably, the MIDP implementation is aware when a TextField has the focus and reacts appropriately. Is there any way to feed Pointer press and motion events to an instance of a MIDP TextField and then collect the resultant text? Can we fool the MIDP system to believe a phony TextField has focus and then collect key presses?    More>>

Does any one know how the actual MIDP TextField interfaces with the Palm char recognition? Perhaps its built in to the event listener chain.

Thanks for your help.
