I am using the acme.GifEncoderB to encode a BufferedImage generated from other sources. It throws an exception "too many colors for a Gif". How can I force it to accept the image or to convert it to the 256 colors allowed by Gif?

Someone suggested color reduction. How can I do that?

I found a color reduction scheme at

http://www.gurge.com/amd/index.html .

It works pretty well.
