help on external tools

Hi,

How does the external tools feature work? If you want to add your own external tool there(for example a java class) and you want a method in that class, how do you have to do that ?

Wim, it seems that you are talking about the Open API feature, while the External Tools just give you an opportunity to run external commands or applications directly from within IDEA.

The Open API feature is going to be supported in the next version of IDEA.

If I have misunderstood your question, please correct me and give some more clarification.
