How do I make swiftmq detach after it has finished initializing?

I'm trying to run swiftmq as a daemon on a linux box. I'd like to start it, wait until it has initialized properly (ie, until it is ready to accept connections), and then have it detach.


Is it possible to do this without playing with shell scripts?
