I thought I read somewhere IBM just released a product JP (? ) that is like a JNI for the Palm OS.

I wish I saved the article to refer back to it.

Unless your J2ME CDLC for Palm will support native call's to the your card reader driver, you will not be able to use it from MIDP.

Hopefully you can use IBM's J9 VM which allows to call Palm hooks from the Java code (it is incompatible with JNI, but very natural for Palm API).

Another problem is that Schlumberger does not provide drivers for the RS232 readers for PalmOS and seems that you have to develop it by yourself. Maybe it will be not so difficult to do it through COM API exisitng for Palm MIDP, if you will be able to find the specification for the communication protocol.
