Firstly, how do I set a breakpoint.

Secondly, I've set tomcat to run in debug mode on port 5000 and I am able to connect remotely to tomcat through IDEA but now what?
I'm running a JSP through a browser but I see no changes in the state of variables in IDEA and can't figure out how to set a break point.

Thanks for any help.

Note that you can also run Tomcat directly under IDEA (as opposed to remote debugging). We are using this aproach on a regular basis and it works very well.

I have found that you can not put a breakpoint in a JSP but if you add the tomcat/work directory to your project you can put a breakpoint in your precompiled java files.

This will break the code as your servlet executes but I've still one problem.

Does anyone know why I get "Cannot evaluate: debug info unavailable" for every variable value in my watch window?

Thanks for any help.
