i have an application which gets data from database either in batch mode(say once in a day) or in live mode(continously). The result set returned by the query needs to be stored temporarily for the application to process it. We have used a hash table for this as the data wud be in-memory thus faster execution. But the real problem is the memory it consumes if the data to be stored is large.('coz the amount of data returned by the query solely depends on the implementation). What is the best way to store this data temporarily for faster excecution and at the same time preventing hogging of memory? We are also looking into in-memory databases... any thoughts???
