In RMI, how to transfer the object reference to the client, instead of the whole serialized object. So, the client can call the methods of the object that resides at the server.

Thanks

The object to be referenced remotely should be a Remote object (implementing Remote and having stub/skeletons). When the Object is an RMIed Object, its reference will be passed instead of its serialized copy.

I don't think you can. All the objects passed between server and client are serialized.
If you call a method foo() on your server, the object it returns it's serialized and then passed to the client using any network protocol like tcp/ip. The client gets the information as an array of bytes then build the object.
