I'm building a client-server application with RMI.

Client side uses jdk1.3.1 and Server side uses jdk1.1.8.

The application works correctly for a time, and some times,
RMI seems to doesn't allow connections and the system hangs.

The only way to allow connections again is stopping the server and
re-running it. Is there any bug, problem or parameter I must
know to avoid this problem?

i don't think you can use two different versions of java for the client and server because the stubs will not be the same. RMIC is different for 1.1.8 and 1.3.1 I am suprised you can get any connection at all
