I am using a Java thin driver JDBC for saving and retreiving data from an Oracle8i UTF charset database.

I need to specify the encoding or charset of my data to Oracle. In OCI driver i read that this is taken from the NLS_LANG enviorment variable. Can anyway help me how i specify that in JDBC Connection of thin driver, coz i think the default value in Oracle is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
and i want this to be AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 so that i avoid any conversions. I have specified the file.encoding of JVM as UTF-8.
please help me, thanks in advance.
