How can I replace the Tomcat version that comes with JBuilder 5?

Well, it depends on which version of JBuilder you are using.

From your previous questions I recon it is JB5.


Here is one way:


  1. Get the right Tomcat implementation from www.apache.org and unzip it
  2. In JB go to the Project->Default Project Properties->Server tab. Here you see tomcat 3.1, 3.2 and 4.0. Choose one of them and point out where you unziped the tomcat archive.
  3. If you already have a project you have to change it by going to the specific projects properties and server tab. Otherwise all your new project will have the new Tomcat implementation as default server.
  4. JB adds a library entry for you, dependent on what you want to do with Tomcat you may have to add additional JAR files to the library entry. Furthermore, it is nice to have the source pointed out for debuging.
