In my Java program, how can I get the user defined environment variables in Unix? (Example: a user defined variable which holds a directory that is needed in my Java program at run time.)

I tried to use the System.property(). It returns whatever is related to Java only, not those defined by user. (GetEnv() in Java 1.1 is no longer being supported by the latest version.)

Thanks!!!
