HTML mail error -Could not connect to SMTP host

Am attempting to use JavaMail to send html mail to an SMTP mail server. When I send plain text mail, everything works fine. When I send HTML, I get:

javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: localhost
, port: 25;

I saw a simalar question where they said that there was no SMTP mail server running on the host. If that's true, then why does plain text mail work?

I am running JavaMail API 1.2

Your problem makes no sense. It sounds like your HTML mail program is trying to use localhost as the mail server while the plain text version isn't. SMTP doesn't care what the content of the mesage is. The process of sending is the same.
