And let me guess: if you view source on the returned web page, you probably have a
tag in there? A servlet doesn't do any magic JSP (or other template engine) processing, unless you have take great effort to arrange a filter to handle the servlet's response before it goes back to the client. If you need JSP (or etc.) code to get processed in the engine, then it should go into a proper *.jsp file, not into a servlet. But I imagine you haven't given us a very good question yet.
