We're successfully using the SyslogAppender logging to a remote syslog server, as well as the DailyRollingFileAppender going to a local log. Took us a bit if messing around, but it's finally working.
However, when comparing the file size of the remote syslog log to the local log file, the syslog logs are half the size of the local log. I know the syslog appender is UDP based, but could it really lose 50% of the packets in a busy production system? Is anyone else using the syslog appender, and if so, are you seeing similar results?
