i don't know anything about java apart from using it, but i can't find an answer to my question about java archive files.

I need to delete a .jar file that contains virus-infected files. However, whenever i try to delete it, i get a message that it is in use by another program. I rebooted in safe mode (win xp, sp2 all updates current), but still got the same message.

I'm sure this is in the wrong topic, but i wasn't able to choose a general topic.

thanks for your help.

If you press ctrl-shift-escape, you get the Task Manager. Find out what process is locking the jar-file, by killing supicious processes. (Probably iexplorer.exe)... Try to delete the file after each process you killed. If you see an instance of iexplore.exe, without any Internet Explorer windows open, you definately are in trouble.... Lots of spyware do that...
