Hello, I'm trying to set up SSL using tomcat 5.5.12. Given that I'm using Java 5.0 (JDK&JRE 1.5.06) I haven't bothered with JSSE (Java Secure Sockets Extention), since it's supposed to be included in the JRE as of version 5.0. Using keytool I have created a keystore for localhost with the password "changeit" and I have uncommented the SSL Connector in the server.xml file, leaving the SSL port to 8443. Hello,

I'm trying to set up SSL using tomcat 5.5.12.

Given that I'm using Java 5.0 (JDK&JRE 1.5.06)

I haven't bothered with JSSE (Java Secure Sockets

Extention), since it's supposed to be included in

the JRE as of version 5.0.

Using keytool I have created a keystore for localhost with

the password "changeit" and I have uncommented the SSL

Connector in the server.xml file, leaving the SSL port to 8443.

When I try to access https://localhost:8443, absolutely

nothing happens. No exception is thrown. Only after a

a short while the request times out and Firefox displays

an error page. I have tried it with IE 6 and Opera, also

without success.

I could not get any help from the Tomcat logs.

Is there something am missing?
Could someone suggest a solution?

Thank you,

Mark Pitsilos

Hi Mark,
I had the very same problem.
If you go to the ~Tomcat 5.5in directory and find a dll file called "tcnative-1.dll", try deleting it, and then test your https connection. That is what worked for me.

I am having the same issue. The certificate is installed and when I run netstat -a it shows that the server is listening on Port 8443 but when I connect to the page the server does not serve up the certificate. I attempted to connect with Firefox and IE6 to https://localhost:8443 https://myipaddress:8443 and still no joy.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank,
