I'm trying to configure a SocketReceiver in Chainsaw to receive logging alerts from my WLS8.1 application. I've entered the following in the log4j.properties file, used by the server log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, Chainsaw, CONSOLE log4j.appender.Chainsaw=org.apache.log4j.net.SocketAppender log4j.appender.Chainsaw.remoteHost=162.26.130.76 log4j.appender.Chainsaw.port=4445 log4j.appender.Chainsaw.locationInfo=true Where 162.26.130.76 is the IP of my PC (the WLS is running on a remote Linux box). I'm trying to configure a SocketReceiver in Chainsaw to receive logging alerts from my WLS8.1 application.

I've entered the following in the log4j.properties file, used by the server

log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, Chainsaw, CONSOLE
log4j.appender.Chainsaw=org.apache.log4j.net.SocketAppender
log4j.appender.Chainsaw.remoteHost=162.26.130.76
log4j.appender.Chainsaw.port=4445
log4j.appender.Chainsaw.locationInfo=true

Where 162.26.130.76 is the IP of my PC (the WLS is running on a remote Linux box).

On starting Chainsaw using the Webstart, I'm setting up a Simple Receiver, and specifying the port the WLS should be transmitting messages on (4445). When the WLS initially starts, I receive the following messages.

Then silence. Whenever my application is running, if I tail -f the actual log files, then I can see the logging going on, however Chainsaw seems to be unaware of this. Can anyone help me, because this is stopping me from using Chainsaw.

Many thanks in advance.
