talking to the database can be done with java with the help
of sql package.. packages in java are nothing but collection of classes and interfaces.. so java.sql package contains related classes and interfaces to interact with the underlying databse..

There are certain jdbc basics you need to understand.. they are..

1) import the neccessary classes(java.sql)
2) Load the jdbc driver
3) establish the connection to the databse with the help of the driver..
4) allocate a statement object
5) with the help of statement object perform some action on databse
6) allocate a resultset object
7) retrieved results can be viewed in resultset.
